Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman was originally known as Batu Road. Many still refer to this place as Batu Road although you may not find any official name of Batu Road in the maps and signs. This road was renamed after the first King of Malaysia. The buildings here reflect the changing trends in architectural designs, and provide clues as to the period of their construction, including the Utilitarian, Neo-Classical and Art Deco traditions.

Noteworthy building in this zone include Masjid India, PH Hendry Building, Coliseum Cinema, Coliseum Cafe, Rex and Tivoli Hotels.

This place is still busy as ever and connects to a popular location called Chow Kit. Many bazaars and retail and sundry shops can be found along the road making one of the busiest streets along the stretch. Following along the same direction of the road will lead you to Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka).

Getting There

Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (aka Batu Road) is a long stretch so you could reach this place from a number of LRT station. If you want to start from one end to the other you may get off at Chow Kit Monorail and walk along the road till you reach Dataran Merdeka. If you prefer to cut in at the halfway point you may exit the Medan Tuanku Monorail station, or Bandaraya Rapid KL station and passing by some street to arrive at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman road.
