It’s Ramadhan time in Malaysia and there are various yummy stalls selling buka puasa food in various places around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. The food is really delicious and that surely makes the tummy tug at you when you catch a waft of cooked food over the air. Even in my office with the closed window I could catch the delicious smell through the window.

Ramadhan Buka Puasa Stalls

Peering through the windows, I could see the stalls in their allotted space and haphazardly parked cars and people walking around trying to decide what yummy food to “ta pau” (pack away) for their buka puasa time.

This time round my favourite ikan pari-pari (grilled stingray) stall is not amongst the tents. I always patronised his stall as his was the most delicious amongst the grilled fish sellers. It must be his gravy that gives it the oomph! And he always sold out his food before the other similar stalls. Guess I just have to pick another stall this year.

Ikan Pari-Pari (Grill Stingray fish), yummy!

One way to find out which stalls is the best is to find out which one has the longest queue. Usually a sure bet that the stall is the tastiest based on the general popularity. Of course, one man’s meat is another man’s poison, and not every food is to our liking. And so the long queue for the Malay popiah stall, though popular with many, but was not to my liking. I guess it is a matter of taste. Not every one’s taste is the same.

So here’s a few shots of the stalls from the back of my working office. Too bad I can’t post up any smell online, you just have to imagine the delicious aroma yourself. If not, then make a trip to one of this open air bazaars around Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya or surrounding. I’m sure you could find one with enough tantalizing food to keep your palate occupied.

Selamat Berbuka Puasa to all my Muslim readers!
